True Story: I’ve Seen Ghosts

Have you ever seen a ghost? What would you do if you did? An interesting interview with a woman who's seen them multiple times. >> yesandyes.org

This is the story of Tiffany and the ghosts she has seen.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Tiffany and I’m 23 years old. I live with my boyfriend in New Jersey but I’m originally from Connecticut. I work in marketing in New York City and in my free time I like playing WoW and am a language nerd!
Can you remember the first time you saw a ghost?
My first experience was at my grandmother’s house when I was about 7-8 years old. My mom, grandmother and I were in a room and I sat in a red leather chair. When everyone else left the room, I got up and I saw this woman sitting in the chair: she was older with salt and pepper hair, a floral dress, and looking right at me.
I told my mom and described her — apparently I described my great-grandmother that I had never met (and there aren’t too many pictures of) to a T. To boot, she had died of a heart attack in that chair. Why my grandmother kept it is beyond me!
How do you usually feel when you see a ghost?
It’s pretty spooky and just makes you want to get out of there. The only time I had a different feeling was again at my grandmother’s house, after her dog was put to sleep. It happened in March/April and I came home in May, and the first time I went over there, I was able to feel the dog around and swore I saw her.
It made me relieved because I felt she stayed around to say goodbye to me. The dog’s presence faded away after about two weeks.
Have you seen ghosts in multiple places?
I’ve seen things in my home, my grandmother’s home and in my second elementary school. (I once saw it rain inside the stairwell. That was freaky.) For what it’s worth, at least five people (family and friends) have seen ghosts in my house.
Have you ever tried to interact with them?
Not that I can remember. When I felt my grandmother’s dog was around, I hung out in that room, but I didn’t actively reach out. Sometimes when my mother is looking for something of her father’s, she’ll concentrate for a day on “Dad, where is the [item]”, and it pops into her head, though I could see that being taken as her subconscious.
In another incident, a friend of ours wanted some sign from her deceased father. We laughed since that never works, but the thought “ask her about the nose job” was put into my mother’s head. Apparently our friend’s father had offered to get her a nose job as a teenager, which we had no idea of since we met her when she was 55.
Have you ever told anyone about these experiences?
I’ve told my family because other people have seen things too. One funny story is how my mom and I were both seeing cats in the basement and finally talked about it. A friend of ours asked my dad if he ever saw anything weird in the house, and my dad replied with “Oh, you mean the cats?”
I was really surprised because my dad usually doesn’t want anything to do with the new age stuff my mom is into. Besides family, just close friends, but most don’t seem to believe me. I don’t think I would either, honestly!
Do you believe in the afterlife?  What’s you religious persuasion?  Do you think either of these have had any influence on your experiences?
I was raised without any religion and was a Jewish Studies minor in college – but Jewish people don’t have a strong sense of an afterlife or anything like that. I believe in an afterlife of some sort but I’m not sure of the specifics. I think some spirits are reachable in one way or another, but I’ve also experienced them fading away. Where they go, who knows!
Have you ever wished that you didn’t see ghosts?
I don’t see things that often, so it doesn’t bother me one way or another. However, my mother is much more sensitive to these things and she has said she wishes she wasn’t so perceptive. Because of that, she stays away from things that are supposed to make you more perceptive to the supernatural, like amethyst.

Have you ever had any experiences with the super natural?  Any questions for Tiffany?

Wow, this is one of the most interesting True Stories done so far.
My question would be: how can you tell that the person is a ghost (assuming that there isn't another person in the room who cannot see it). Does the ghost look solid, like a real person?
I believe my deceased grandfather came to say goodbye to me: I felt his presence pretty strongly for a couple of days, but then it faded away. I didn't see him, just felt him.

I saw ghosts up until my early 20s and they looked like us but I couldn’t make out the face because they were not facing me directly or they wore a veil. There were times I tried to talk to one because they looked normal but then they just disappeared. I don’t see them now and I’m very glad that I don’t.

It’s fake but ghost don’t come to earth they stay hidden I’ve seen lights but no sighn of human ghost it said that ghost are souls so why have they got bodies fake totally. It annoys me when people do this when they haven’t seen one before. Sorry but this ain’t real but I know ghost do exist? ? don’t under estimate what no one can see. You only see sighns of them.

A ghost isn’t human. They are dead. That’s why they’re ghosts.

Excellent Post!!! So refreshing and comforting to see this! I too have seen ghosts and other unexplained entities since I was a little girl, I don't broadcast it, but I don't necessarily try to cover it up, either. Thank you for having the courage to talk about it in a public forum 🙂

I've seen a few ghosts, but the strongest memory of one was while I was on the Winchester Mystery House tour.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a beautiful Native American girl, wearing period-accurate clothes that I didn't know were accurate until years later, standing at the edge of the room. When the group moved on I looked back into that room and she was gone.

I have had 2 experiences where my uncle and aunt made their presence known after they died. Pretty scary stuff.

I'm glad it doesn't happen often. I think my dad was making my son's remote control toy move after he passed away. My brother didn't believe it, so I said "Dad – drive the car to his feet." It did. My brother's face drained! lol

  6. Chanda

It'd be even creepier if your basement was just infested with cats! I like that your "ghost stories" aren't scary, closer to comforting, really.

  7. KiwiMichelle.

My friend "sees". On one hand I find it hard to reconcile(after all I'm a scientist) but on the other hand, I figure what has she got to gain by lying to me about something like this?
I'll keep my mind open til the end. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoyed this too! More!! 🙂 xxx

Rebecca, That's not cool. Just because you may not have experienced anything yourself, doesn't mean you should call another's experiences "nonsense." We are so far from understanding any of this stuff. Just be open!

I'm not sure whether or not I believe in ghosts or demons or anything, but I've had a few really scary experiences with…something, especially when I had a basement bedroom as a teenager. When I saw the movie paranormal activity I was like "THAT'S THE THING THAT WAS IN MY BEDROOM" haha yikes.

Nowadays if I get that "someone's here" feeling I just say "Leave me alone." or "Go away" out loud. It makes me feel better to acknowledge the feeling and always seems to work.

I find this post really interesting because there are so many of us walking the line between the outside reality and our mind's reality, myself included. Our minds are such amazing, fantastic things. I often struggle with trying to figure out what is a fantasy/dream and what is reality and figuring out my jumbled up memories, and I just love to see how people with the same issues cope so easily and are so functional. I wish I could believe in ghosts!

  12. Diana Kellogg

I saw a ghost when I was in 3rd grade. It was my 1st and only experience ever. I'm 38 now, but still remember it vividly. The experience happened in my upstairs bedroom, while everyone else in the house was downstairs. It was a dark haired man, w/a beard, and he had on a long, light colored robe. After that, we moved… then the house burned down sometime later.

I enjoyed your story.I myself had many spiritual happenings over the years ,yes I have seen ghosts, the first one was my father inlaw walking in my hall way he looked quite solid,I also saw my cat ,the last one happened last Oct ,my husband and I was on holiday having a nice meal as I looked across the table to speak to him,I could not believe I was looking at my mother she passed away 3years ago it was only for seconds but I will never forget it,The strange thing is it was her anniversary of passing.I have lights coming on ,shower comes on ,objects placed on the toilet floor, also a large mirror came of the wall cord mirror hook nothing had broken,it was scary strange because that would have been my late fathers birthday.I could go on I have seen many orbs,Yes I believe there is another life waiting for us I have no doubts,I have had so much proof given to me ,and I have no fear of death Jean S

I’ve lived in 2 houses where we all felt things. I’ve had experiences in 2 other places where i was just visiting & wad told later of what the residents had experienced also. I’ve just realized late last year that i’m an empath. Now i understand why my life has been “different”.
